Jessica Houlton, who specialises in high jump and long jump.

GRIMSBY Harriers & AC is one of the most promising clubs in North East Lincolnshire and is the only club in the area that has achieved ClubMark status. ClubMark is the governing body of Athletics' mark of approval that shows that the club is operating to required standards of the sport.

The Harriers cater for all ages and abilities so, whether aged 8 or 108, you would be welcome to come and join  to get fit and have some fun. Grimsby Harriers & AC train both indoors and outdoors and also coach for cross country events

The club has a vast range of very experienced coaches in all disciplines. All of the club's coaches have  the necessary qualifications and checks that enables the club to operate to the very high standard that it does.

The club coaches will take you through the basics of the sport to find your level, and then encourage you to compete in the many leagues and Open competitions that the club enter.

The club is very family orientated and if you visit, you will see whole families taking part - not just the children. The Harriers have a very good social scene including presentation nights and many other events for the whole family to enjoy.

Training for the Grimsby Harriers & AC takes place on Monday & Wednesday nights at King George V Stadium, Weelsby Road, Grimsby starting at 6pm. This takes place all through the year come rain, snow or shine. We also run indoor training from October to March on Thursday nights.

Past successes for the Harriers have included many athletes who have gone on to represent Great Britain, but they still come back to support us at our events which means that they never forget their roots. People like pole vaulter Paul Williamson, to name just one.

Grimsby Harriers host two Open Meetings per year as well as many league fixtures  locally.

If you would like to have a go, then go down at King George Stadium on any Monday or Wednesday evening from 6pm and talk to one of our coaches or parents that bring their children and you will see all that is going on.

Further details can be obtained from Rob Allison by email: robert.allison67@ntlworld.com. The club's web site is currently being re-designed - so watch for further details. Keep an eye on www.sportstelegraph.co.uk for details and entry forms for forthcoming events.
